About the Artist
Lane prefers to dabble in manipulative types of photography. He seldom takes a straight photograph, and most of his manipulations are done by hand. Some of the types of effects include "infrared" photography & "painting with light". Other processes include hand manipulated negatives - in
which he painstakingly removes emulsion from a negative then adds color back to the negative by hand. Another one of his favorite processes is an Emulsion transfer. This is where he literally lifts the emulsion off of a printed image and transfers the "tissue thin" image onto another surface,
creating a most unique look.
Lane creates a variety of work and tends to produce artwork according to series. His trademark subjects are carousels & cemeteries. His art appeals to a wide variety of people and has shown in many galleries across the US. His pieces also hang in many Private Collections. It is quite common
for the purchasers of the art to follow his series.
Upon graduation from highschool, already an established working photographer, Lane entered the Atlanta Institute of Art, graduating with a degree in "Visual Communications."
With no formal training, Lane taught himself the art of photography. Making many mistakes along the way. Twenty years of perseverance has brought him to the present where he has developed an individual style and has embarked on a unique photographic process he can call his own. Over the years,
he has appeared in two museums and numerous art shows & gallery exhibits, winning "Best in Show" in many of them.
